Monteriggioni, a crown over the northern hills of Siena, magical place in which it feels like time has stood still in the Middle Ages. Made famous by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy, in the XIII century, here many bloody battles took place. From the top of its walkable passageways it’s still possible to admire the sweet hills of the Chianti that surround it. Ideal place to taste a good glass of the local wine, even to the sunset.

On the slopes of its boundaries we can see a small hamlet, Abbadia Isola, situated on the famous route of pilgrimage, the Francigena. Here appears the Romanesque Church full of masterpieces made by the founders of the medieval sienese painting.

For the most adventurous and nature’s lovers it will be possible to walk along a stretch of the Francigena route wich connects the two villages.
